Beautiful Life Adult Day Center News
We say a Big HELLO to April! With the beautiful weather, this is the best time to get out of your house and come to Beautiful Life Adult Day Center. Meeting up with friends and participating in all the great activities and events that we will be conducting this month is a great way to get out and enjoy April.
Let’s start with a lunch outing on April 7 (Friday) at MUW. This is buffet style dining for a very reasonable cost. And who does not like to wear PJs or loungewear all day? You can do just that on the 13th while we watch a favorite movie flick. Then, on the 14th wear some bright colored spring clothes and hunt for eggs/prizes hid all over Beautiful Life. Not only will we be getting our exercise, but at the same time be rewarded.
Want to learn a martial art? A Tae Kwon Do expert will have a demonstration on the 17th. If you keep a positive “I can do it” attitude, you may surprise yourself and choose to pursue it further. Of course, Ms. Christina and Ms. Keda will be learning those moves along with all of you-YEAH!
More fun activities like Make Over Monday and Dance Off are also scheduled this month. Turn the page and you’ll see the full schedule. Mark each event so you don’t miss a single day of F-U-N!
Diabetes — This is a chronic disease where the body has too much glucose (sugar) in the blood which can lead to serious health problems. Some of the signs and symptoms includes:
- Increased Thirst,
- Frequent Urination and
- Extreme Hunger.
Type 1 diabetes can appear at childhood or adolescent and Type 2 affects people older than 40. Gestational diabetes affects pregnant women and might lead to Type 2 in the latter years. If you think you have diabetes contact your provider right away. If you have the disease, then working closely with your nurse practitioner or doctor is advised. You will need close follow-up until your blood sugar levels stabilize. Lower your risk factors by maintaining a healthy weight, eating less sweet/sugary foods, and increasing physical activity.
April Birthday Celebrations:
04/13 — Ms. Johnnie B.
04/15 — Ms. Christine D.
04/18 — Mr. Febber M.
Ms. Vernisha is in the process of revising our menu. Please be patient with us as we strive to serve delicious, nutritious and home cooked meals here at the center.
Next month, we’ll add a section to this newsletter. It will be very Special!! Why? Because, a client will be featured and everyone has the chance to know that special person even more.
*This is flu season, so wash your hands regularly.*
